Global Seas adds the F/V Defender to their fleet
Global Seas LLC, a Seattle-based maritime management company, is pleased to announce the management of one of the premier vessels in the Bering Sea, the F/V Defender, starting in 2009.
In December 2008, Defender LLC. was purchased by Dona Martita LLC, a partnership between Nina Fisheries, Inc. and Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation. The purchase of the Defender LLC includes the 200’ mid water trawl vessel and its inshore Pollock quota.
As with Dona Martita LLC’s other assets, Global Seas LLC will provide the management expertise and logistics necessary to operate a safe and efficient fleet of vessels all over the world.

We are confident that very few changes will need to be made to the Defender’s operations.”
Global Seas LLC is a private company formed in 1994 to oversee and manage operations in the commercial maritime industry. The Global Seas management team has extensive experience in the maritime industry going back to the late 1970’s. The Company’s emphases have always been safety, efficiency, excellence, and professionalism.
Global Seas is the sole management company for Nina Fisheries’ holdings. Nina Fisheries, Inc. has ownership in a fleet of vessels ranging in size from 62 feet to 231 feet and involved primarily in commercial fishing industry & research vessels operated for charter. The fishing operations include a substantial amount of Pollock, cod, and crab quotas in Alaska, Dungeness crab off Oregon and a Mackerel/Herring catching and a processing plant out of New Bedford, Mass.
The scientific research vessels have abilities to survey full ocean depth, coastal inshore mapping and are highly regarded as (one client of Global Seas states), “an excellent platform to perform research missions in all kinds of weather and sea conditions”. These research ships operate around the world.
